The FDA is so concerned about the toxic danger to dogs and ferrets from a common sugar substitute used by humans that it issued a warning this week to consumers. If you find xylitol listed as an ingredient on any product label in your home, keep that product well out of reach of your pet dog or ferret. While it is safe for human consumption, it is very toxic to these animals.
